LIC New Term Assurance Rider Calculator

New Term Assurance Rider — Rider | UIN 512B210V02

  • Extra death protection attached at inception to eligible non-linked main policies. It is not sold as an independent savings or term policy.
  • Aggregate term rider sum assured is capped at ₹25,00,000 across relevant policies, subject to base-policy limits and LIC underwriting.
  • The death benefit uses the contractual formula for the payment type; rider basic cover alone is not a complete calculation in every case.
  • The example assumes ₹5,00,000 main-policy basic cover and an accepted ₹5,00,000 rider. The combined basic figures exclude bonuses and other death-benefit formula adjustments.
Benefit comparison — stated assumptions apply
ItemAmount or condition
Main-policy basic cover example₹5,00,000
Additional term rider cover₹5,00,000
Combined basic cover figures₹10,00,000
Rider survival maturity payment₹0

Term Assurance Rider adds death protection to an eligible main policy, which can help when the savings policy's basic cover is smaller than the family needs. It has its own cost and conditions, so compare the combined protection rather than assuming that an extra cover label automatically doubles everything the main policy may pay.

Add protection when the main policy begins

The rider is chosen at the start of the eligible main policy and must fit the permitted age, term and cover limits. The total term rider cover across relevant policies also matters, so an existing rider should be included when asking LIC how much further protection can be added.

A rider limit applies across policies

The rider pays according to its death benefit rule and has no separate maturity savings amount if the covered person survives. For a larger standalone protection comparison, read New Tech Term, while checking both total cost and how long each alternative can keep the required cover in place.

Doubling basic cover is not doubling every benefit

If the main policy basic cover is five lakh rupees and an eligible term rider adds another five lakh, the two basic amounts total ten lakh rupees. This simple addition does not calculate every claim detail, because main-policy bonuses and the rider's required death benefit comparisons must still be handled separately.

FAQ

Q: Can I add New Term Assurance Rider years after buying the main policy?

A: This rider is available at the inception of the eligible main policy. Do not assume that a later premium payment or policy anniversary creates a fresh attachment right.

Q: Is the twenty five lakh term rider limit available on every policy separately?

A: No. The stated ceiling applies in aggregate across relevant term riders, with additional base-policy and acceptance limits. Existing rider cover must be included in the check.

Q: Will the term rider add money to my endowment maturity cheque?

A: No. It supplies extra death protection and has no survival maturity benefit of its own. The main endowment maturity amount follows the main policy terms.
